Please note that whilst we do everything we can to arrange your delivery in the fastest time possible, we use a third-party company and as such, are unable to affect the transit times directly.

You can track the progress of your delivery online by clicking on the link provided in the email sent to you by Palletways once they receive your goods. (Don’t forget to check your spam/junk folder).

We strongly advise you not to book contractors or builders to carry out work until after your goods have arrived as we cannot be held responsible for any unexpected delays that may occur.

YES. Shop Granite Setts deliver directly to the desired location throughout the UK

Deliveries are generally made between 9 am and 6 pm in most cases but may, as an exception, be made outside of these hours.

Delivery will be made on a large 18-tonne vehicle (approximate dimensions – 10m long, 2.8m wide and 4m high). Please check you have enough access to suit this size of vehicle at your delivery point and ensure the road approaching your property is suitable for an 18-tonne pallet truck vehicle and has no weight restrictions, there are no low hanging branches, trees or obstacles (including parked cars), which may cause damage to, or obstruct delivery vehicles. Please advise us of any constraints which may restrict access to your delivery address.

All our deliveries are made by third party hauliers on a pallet truck using tailgate and pump-lift assist and are always kerbside drops. They will not be on a Hiab vehicle, so cannot be craned off.

The driver will unload using a tail-lift offload and will push/pull the goods into position with a manual pump truck. This operation can only be done on a solid, flat, level surface with no grass, sand or gravel, i.e. tarmac, block paving or concrete. Ensure the delivery area is solid enough to take the weight of a pallet truck carrying up to one tonne crates.

The driver will try to place the pallet as near to your property as possible, but it is at their discretion, taking into consideration health and safety regulations, whether it is left kerbside, on your property or at the nearest suitable point.

Please note that redelivery charges will be applied if your access is not suitable, according to these instructions.

3. ABOUT QUANTITIES AND WHICH PRODUCT TO ORDER

Our granite setts and cobblestones are available in wooden crates of one tonne and half a tonne.

Our online shop allows you to calculate the quantity of wooden crates you should order, according to the surface you want to cover and the size selected for that area.

We recommend purchasing 10-15% more than the square meterage measured for small areas and 5-10% for bigger projects. This will ensure that you have enough material, as the area covered by the crates may vary, depending on different laying methods, standard size deviations and wastage if cutting is needed.

If you require any assistance to calculate the quantity you should order, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our wooden crates contain an approximate average quantity of granite setts, figures based on statistical data. Please note that our crates are sold by gross weight totalling one tonne or half tonne so in any case a fixed quantity of stones is never guaranteed, the gross weight of the crates is guaranteed.

As a reference guide only, please consider the following approximate quantities:

680/700 units per crate for granite setts measuring 100x100x50 mm; 170 units per crate for those measuring 200x100x100 mm; and 340/350 units per crate for granite cobbles of 100x100x100 mm and for granite setts of 200x100x50 mm.

Once the blocks are extracted from the quarries, those unique pieces are manually cropped and due to this hand split finish of the setts, all the stated dimensions are nominal and have tolerances of up to 10%. Some individual pieces may even be outside of those standards and have bigger deviations. The given dimensions are not exact and this particularity gives them their rustic and charming aspect.

If you require any assistance to calculate the quantity you should order, please do not hesitate to contact us.

The coverage described here is calculated taking into account a 12/13 mm mortar joint between the granite setts.

The total coverage of one tonne or half tonne wooden crates varies depending on the size of the setts selected. The meterage given should be used as an approximate guide only as our crates are sold by gross weight totalling one tonne or half tonne and final areas covered may vary depending on different laying methods or patterns, gap between cobbles and size deviations of the stones.

For residential projects, such as paths, patios and gardens, and all those places where the granite setts do not have to support heavy weights, we recommend using 200x100x50 mm and 100x100x50 mm, this being the most affordable option with a lower cost per square metre, whatever your chosen colour.

As for projects like roadways or driveways which may be subject to heavy or frequent traffic, we recommend using 200x100x100 mm and 100x100x100 mm, which cost practically the same per square metre.

In any of the available colours, the 200x100x50 mm and 100x100x50 mm granite setts are always the sizes which offer a lower cost per square metre for your project.

Without doubt, the 200x100x100 mm and 100x100x100 mm granite setts are what we recommend for use as edging stone. Its natural split finish will give a stunningly beautiful look to the drive or pathway of any home, at a surprisingly low cost: more than 36 linear metres of grey granite edging stone for only £329.

Yes. We are concerned about labour conditions and work regulations in some countries outside of Europe, therefore by quarrying our granite setts in Portugal, we guarantee that safe working conditions and human rights are respected.

Portuguese granite is recognised as one of the best in the world, Portugal being one of the biggest suppliers in Europe to the Nordic countries as well as Germany and France.

Our delivery times for bespoke projects or bulk quantities are much lower, due to the proximity of the UK to Portugal, which allows us to considerably reduce shipping times. In addition, it decreases our carbon footprint.

7. ABOUT COLOURS

Granite is made by nature, therefore you will see some variations in the colour and different shades.

An exact match can never be guaranteed in natural granite, the colours shown on our site should be taken for reference purposes only. When using natural granite setts and cobbles, no two stones will ever be the same. The pictures are as close to the actual product as digital photography and each individual monitor will allow. If you are in any doubt, please request a free sample.

Each stone can have different shades and individual characteristics. However, some types of stone, like yellow gold, have greater variations than others, sometimes even showing grey veins, a quality which could enhance the character of your project. If you are in any doubt, please request a free sample.

It is these different shades which give a unique personality and character to any driveway, garden or patio built with granite setts or cobbles.
